There are any number of reasons nuptial couples choose Oct. 31 as their wedding date, and not all who do want traditional, spooky-or ghoulish-themed floral décor.
Halloween weddings can be both fun and chic, as these bridal bouquets by Orit Hertz, EMC, prove. She has created a subtle and sophisticated holiday vibe through her choice of botanicals, color palette and textures, and she offers two versions of the bouquet, both employing the same floral materials and construction method.
Step 1
Spray 18 16-gauge wires with black paint. When they’re dry, bundle the wires, and bind them with 18- or 24-gauge black beading/jewelry wire, just above/below their midsection.
Step 2
Bend the 18 wires, above the binding point, outward, at a 90-degree angle. Space them equidistantly.
Step 3
Strengthen the split point of the wires by twisting more black beading/jewelry wire until you create a central core and the horizontal wires are stationary.
Step 4
Begin to wrap black beading/jewelry wire on the horizontal, beginning in the center, to create a structure that resembles a spider’s web.
Step 5
Glue feathers, with either liquid floral adhesive or hot glue, into the middle of the structure, to create a spidery look. Glue additional single feathers to the ends of each of the 18 spider’s-web wires.
Step 6
Arrange the flowers as a hand-tied bouquet, among the wires of the structure, in the style of your choice. Bind the stems with waterproof tape, raffia, taped wire or a cable tie.
Step 7
Cut the stems to the desired length.
Step 8
Wrap the binding point with black ribbon of your choice.
