Slinging organically farm cut stems, blossoming a Saturday tradition in Port Douglas that will bring vibrancy into the homes and shops of the community.

Relocating from Mossman “The Flower Lady” is planting new roots with a budding new workshop in Port Douglas opening her doors this Saturday 18 July.

The new shop is located at 25 Warner Street in a charming space that is literally a lush botanical oasis with every inch covered in a rainbow of blooms inspired by the local environment. Mused by Mother Nature this is a truly a buzz-worthy flower shop to be visited.

Melina Sole owner and operator of The Flower Lady says she is extremely excited to welcome everyone in Saturday mornings from 8:00 to 11:00 am to her eco-dedicated floral studio and a hub of all things gorgeous.

“The flowers available on Saturday mornings are sustainably and locally sourced from a plastic-free organic farm in Koha. All cut late Friday, hours before being sold on Saturday – these flowers are so fresh and nourishing they’re even edible,” she said.

Melina is frequently praised by her distinctive flair to take weddings and events to the next level by utilising texture, colours, shapes and contrast.

As a petal poet she is instinctively attuned to the uniqueness of every bloom and how each holds an incredibly special place in any wedding or event.

The new workshop allows Melina more opportunity and space to focus on her passion for wedding and events.

“With so many of our wedding clients calling to Port Douglas to say their “I do’s”, it just made sense,” she said.

Obviously for many brides who wished to tie the knot in 2020, they have had their weddings tied-up with Coronavirus and their day had to be postponed.

However, this hasn’t seemed to stopped wedding enquires for The Flower Lady, Melina says she has been getting many brides calling and is looking forward to a remarkably busy wedding season in 2021. With the backlog of postponed weddings from this year and not enough weekends in 2021 to accommodate them, Port Douglas may see a trend of off season and weekday weddings next year.

There is a lot happening at The Flower Lady studio, besides being busy getting vases prepped, cooler stocked, and snips sharp. Melina is offering an arrange of in-house workshops series throughout the year. Think – jewellery making, basket weaving, handmade printing – things that make the most out of the best nature has to offer.
