Shawn Lucy and Chase Fletcher are making plans to open Flowers on Main the first part of September at 319 North Main Street.
Shawn has many years of expertise in the floral industry and is well known for his design techniques and unique touch he gives to his work. He has trained under some of the industry’s #1 floral designers.
Chase brings many years of leadership and business development experience to the business, winning many awards for sales excellence and outstanding business leadership. A lot of thought went into choosing the name for the new business.
“When Chase and I first started gathering our thoughts about what we were going to name the business, we knew that it had to be something that would grab the attention of our community. Both of our grandmothers had outgoing personalities with a charming touch to everyone they met. We decided that it was only right to help their legacies live on by including them in the name. ‘Flowers on Main’ was a collaborative idea, from two good friends of ours giving the idea for that name being as we are located on Main Street and including our Grandmothers, Ruby Ruth’s Flowers on Main was born. You will see the shop branded as Flowers on Main and our gift items branded under Ruby Ruth’s Flowers on Main,” Shawn stated.
Chase’s Grandmother, Ruby Green Griffin, was born in South Boston, Virginia. After marrying his Grandfather, Raymond Griffin, they lived in North Carolina and Georgia before returning to Virginia, living in Clarksville for many years. She was an integral part of his life, bringing much joy from his childhood to adulthood. Her memory will always live on through him and all that loved her.
Shawn’s Grandmother, Ruth Rogers Capps, was born in Brodnax, Virginia. At a very early age, Ruth married John "Buck" Capps, who was a staple in Brunswick County and who always had a story to tell. Ruth instilled in Shawn the value of how to treat others and the value of family. Ruth will always hold a special place in the hearts of many.
Shawn and Chase feel both Ruby and Ruth will be smiling down from Heaven as they see this business journey begin and both know that they will both be there every step of the way cheering them on.
Flowers on Main will offer fresh and silk flower arrangements for any occasion. “As your hometown florist and gift shop, we will also offer a wide variety of home decor, candles, garden flags, and much more!” Shawn said. “It has always been a dream of ours to own a florist. We had been scouting locations for quite some time […]
