Tina Adams branched out into running a tea room and has never looked back saying the secret to surviving this long is being “adaptable to change” Tutbury Tea room and Coffee Shop has been through many changes since 1999, but has always had a connection with Tutbury High Street , which has been its home for 20 years. Owner Tina Adams, who was born in Staffordshire, said: ” I first moved to Tutbury in 1999 after getting married and started off as a florist as I was a florist by trade. “I was very happy with the response I got from the Tutbury community and it wasn’t long before I needed bigger premises for my stock. “I moved to a bigger shop in 2003 and it was all going really well. “I had five full time florists working with me but, unfortunately, in 2008 we were affected by the credit crunch, which meant I had to downsize to two staff members as I couldn’t afford to keep the rest of them. “This is how life is when you are running your own business, you have good times and bad times, and I feel it’s important to be adaptable and find ways to get back up. She moved to her current premises at 8 High Street in 2012 to continue her florist business and with the move a business development idea came to mind.
