There’s a new florist in Tarboro and business is already in full bloom, according to manager Kaitlyn Anderson. “It has been crazy,” Anderson said, as a wide-eyed expression overtook her face. She said that after opening the doors on Nov. 4 at Anderson Flower Co., business steadily has increased. And with the shop’s official ribbon-cutting and grand opening scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, followed by a Christmas open house at noon Sunday, Anderson said she is comfortable thinking that things only will get more hectic. Anderson, who is quick to point out that she has no floral background, said, “But I do have the best designer around working with me,” pointing to 25-year floral design veteran Janet Turner. “I can do anything (customers) want,” Turner said. “Customers don’t want the same-old thing,” Turner said. “They want something different, like they’ve seen in Raleigh — but we’re going to give them that. They won’t have to go out of town any more.” Anderson said that while Turner’s strength is in formal design, hers comes from what she calls, “whimsical stuff. I’m a crafty person.” “I’m good at that and can visualize my options when you tell what type of item you want,” she said. Anderson said that when a customer comes in and tells them they want flowers, the staff at Anderson Flower begins questioning the customer to determine exactly what they have in mind. “We’ve got a lot of options,” she said, referring to different floral varieties and decorating accessories. “We have galvanized vases and we have glass vases, for example.
