An installation of late summer flowers, handcrafted bug hotels and insect sculptures will decorate the Bull Ring Gate entrance to this year’s long-awaited RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
South London’s floral design studio, JamJar Flowers, has been chosen by the RHS to transform the Bull Ring Gate for the world’s most prestigious flower show, which is taking place from 21st to 26th September 2021 on the grounds of The Royal Hospital Chelsea.
It will be a triumphant return for RHS Chelsea. The horticultural show was cancelled in 2020 as a result of the pandemic, with a virtual show in its place, but it returns this year for the first time ever in September; an event which is usually held in May.
Chelsea Flower Show Bull Ring Gate Entrance
Visitors approaching Bull Ring Gate will be captivated by ‘The Nature of Thyme’ installation, which aims to highlight the importance of pollinators by using an imaginative mix of planting and floristry techniques.Excitingly, the theme will develop over three spaces – the Bull Ring Gate, the Southern Plot and the Roundabout in front of the gates – with each area exploring the interconnectivity between flora and fauna. A visit to the ancient water meadows at Thyme in Gloucestershire – an enclosed collection of restored 17th century farm buildings, houses and cottages – which is home to many wildflower species, pollinators and migratory birds, inspired JamJar Flowers’ founder, Melissa Richardson, to base the design on this great example of a thriving ecosystem in action.
