New York, NY, August 2020 – PlantShed, the go-to floral destination for interior designers, creatives and luxury brands alike, is pleased to announce the opening of their newest retail location and floral café located at 47 East Palisade Ave., Englewood, NJ. PlantShed has come together with same-family owned Englewood Florist, a community staple since 1978, to bring the PlantShed experience to New Jersey for the very first time, with a newly renovated indoor/outdoor space, and added café. Englewood becomes home to PlantShed’s fourth retail outpost and third floral café – the unique coffee shop/flower shop retail concept where artisanal coffee, pastries and light bites are served up alongside premium flowers, houseplants and plant life carefully curated by PlantShed’s team of in-house designers and horticulturalists.
Encompassing the best of PlantShed’s New York locations, the newest outpost retains the character of its original building while PlantShed’s design-forward touches bringing new life to the space. The shop features casual dining with indoor and outdoor seating, featuring French marble bistro tables and rattan chairs under chic umbrellas on the street-facing outdoor area. On the back patio, classic wooden picnic benches under birch trees nestled into plants make for a serene, airy environment for relaxing and enjoying coffee and light bites.
The floral café, as always, focuses on providing the highest quality coffee supplied by Partners Coffee, and features top-of-the-line equipment, including a La Marzocco Strada espresso machine, to offer customers the highest caliber coffee shop experience. Bringing some downtown New York edge to the suburbs, PlantShed Englewood’s newly renovated space also features a custom “Love Me” piece by renowned NYC artist Curtis Kulig located above the café bar.
PlantShed Englewood offers a coffee menu that includes drip coffee, espresso drinks, loose leaf tea, matcha & more, with dairy milk and vegan milk add-ons including macadamia, oat, hemp, coconut and almond milk. Featured drinks include their Freddo espresso, a Greek-style frothed espresso over ice, and Freddo Cappuccino. PlantShed Englewood also offers a variety of light bites and pastries from New York’s Ceci Cela and Long Island City’s Sans Bakery.
In addition to providing a delectable menu of beverages and bites, shoppers at this location will also be able to enjoy an expanded offering of home and lifestyle products, and a wide selection of plants and pottery. On top of the in-store offering, PlantShed Englewood’s team will offer (socially distant-safe) at-home consultations, indoor/outdoor plant design, pastries and coffee-to-go for catering to offices, as well as expanded corporate services.
PlantShed Englewood marks the fourth retail location for PlantShed, preceded by the company’s first downtown New York location at 1 Prince Street, their original floral café location in the Upper West Side, and PlantShed’s flagship and rooftop greenhouse location on West 96th St (which has been operating in its current location since 1981). PlantShed’s expansion and evolution throughout the years reflects their harmonious balance of contemporary style with the timeless ethos of a family company.
“Renovating the space with my cousin Joe Rogers, the owner of Englewood Florist, and being able to bring this concept to New Jersey where I grew up has been a truly meaningful experience, particularly during these challenging times in the retail industry,” says PlantShed’s CEO, Eric Mourkakos. “We are excited to bring the full scope of the PlantShed services to the area along with the full café experience and we hope it brings a bit of joy to the area locals after months of lockdowns.”
**COVID-19 Precautions: Customers’ health and safety being a top priority, PlantShed Englewood requires all guests to wear masks, enforces limited capacity, features social distancing and mask requirement signage, social distancing floor markers, cleaning logs/schedule of all areas and high-frequency areas. PlantShed requires all staff to wear masks and gloves at all times, and offers hand sanitizer and protective gear for staff and visitors alike.
